Flytippers caught on camera 🎥

Recently I saw a note that was left on some fly tipping that Kensal Green Resident’s Association tweeted, and I couldn’t have put it better myself:   “Please stop fly-tipping here. This tree deserves better, so do the rest of us.”

This heartfelt message perfectly captures the sentiment of our community – a plea for respect and care for our shared spaces.

Like the majority of residents, the council has simply had enough of fly-tipping and the minority of selfish litter louts who treat our streets as their dumping ground.
The council spends a staggering £1.5m of taxpayers’ money cleaning Brent’s parks and streets each year. Our contractors at Veolia work tirelessly to keep our bustling public spaces clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy. There are some people who are making this job more difficult than it should be.
Fly-tippers creep out of their homes in the middle of the night to dump mattresses and bags of rubbish outside their neighbour’s home or in alleyways. Sometimes these bags are ripped open by foxes and residents wake up to streets covered in filth. White vans pull up in car parks and blatantly offload industrial and commercial waste without a care in the world before speeding off, leading to increased costs for all of us.

As part of our new Don’t Mess with Brent campaign, we are saying enough is enough! We have already increased the number of enforcement officers on our streets issuing more and larger fines to these selfish dumpers, but we are now going a step further.

Today we will start releasing a series of videos of people who have been caught on camera chucking away their rubbish on our streets. I am often sent these videos from residents who want these selfish dumpers identified, fined, and stopped.
