Plane Spotting

Sunday 18 May, 2.00pm – 3.30pm
Venue: Cambridge Gardens, Kilburn Park, NW6 5AE (Meet at Kilburn Park Station)

There is a great story lining many of our busy streets, our local parks and perhaps even right outside your front door. A story about style, cross-cultural creativity and resilience. It’s the story of one of London’s most iconic, yet invisible figures – the London Plane tree.

Plane Spotting is a guided interactive walking tour which takes people on a journey around the Kilburn Park area using London Plane trees as significant cultural landmarks. Through Linett Kamala’s local storytelling and Sam Furness’ guided creative activities, you will learn why the London Plane is one of London’s most important (yet unrecognised) icons.

Come and enjoy a couple of hours of appreciation and conversation with these long-standing residents (the London Planes!).

The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022 will come into force on 1st

October 2022.

From that date, all relevant landlords must:

– ensure that at least one smoke alarm is equipped on each storey of their homes where there is a room used as living accommodation. This has been a legal requirement in the private rented sector since 2015;

– ensure that a carbon monoxide alarm is equipped in any room used as living accommodation which contains a fixed combustion appliance (excluding gas cookers); and

– ensure that faulty smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are repaired or replaced. The requirements are enforced by local authorities, which can impose a fine of up to £5,000 where a landlord fails to comply with a remedial notice.

To all members,

When your smoke or heat detector starts to bleep, DO NOT DISARM it, change the batteries immediately.

As you can see from the above notice, there will a £5000.00 fine coming into place from the 1st of October 2022.

Your co-operation in the matter is appreciated.

Arneway Housing Co-operative is a Government Registered Housing Association founded in 1978 it’s a non-profit organisation with charitable status and receives public money to help provide homes for people in need of housing.
