Resident Hub and Wembley Library reopens
|
|
The refurbished Wembley Library will reopen at Brent Civic Centre on Monday 4 November with dedicated spaces for study, children, and public PC use.
On the ground floor there is a newly fitted out children’s library with sensory pods, space for reading, and children’s and family library events and activities.
The new main library is located on the mezzanine floor. It features a modern, well-lit curved space, with study spaces, a new hireable community space and public PCs.
There is also a new dedicated public PC area on the ground floor, located within customer services area.

Changes to services at Wembley Library ahead of reopening
|
|
|
| There is currently reduced public PC access at the temporary library on the first floor of Brent Civic Centre until Thursday 31 October. This is due to relocation of equipment ahead of the reopening of the new Wembley Library. Printing services are still available.
The temporary library will be closed Friday 1 – Sunday 3 November and there will be no library services at Brent Civic Centre over this period.
Nearest open libraries during this time are Ealing Road and Kingsbury. |

Exhibition – 30 Years of Liberation: Empire, apartheid and the fight for democracy in South Africa
|
|
|
|
|
| This new free exhibition explores the legacies of colonialism, coinciding with the centenary of The British Empire Exhibition that was held in Wembley Park in 1924 and 1925.
Local heritage is presented alongside the work of South African artist Gareth Erasmus, who’s work explores decolonisation as a central theme. His work challenges dominant and exclusionary narratives of African and ‘coloured’ identity within the South African context.

- 12noon – 2pm, Brent Archives, 2nd floor – join archive staff to take part in the British Empire Exhibition Collection drop-in session to learn more about the collection and the Becoming Brent project.
