Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Under the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022, landlords must:
- Have at least one smoke alarm on every storey of a property where there is a room used as living accommodation.
- Have a carbon monoxide alarm in any room used as living accommodation containing a fixed combustion appliance, excluding gas cookers.
- Repair or replace faulty smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when notified of a fault.
To all members: Please do not disable your smoke, heat or carbon monoxide alarms. If an alarm starts to beep or appears faulty, please report it to Arneway Housing Co-operative immediately so that it can be checked and, where necessary, repaired or replaced.

When your smoke or heat detector starts to bleep, DO NOT DISARM it, change the batteries immediately.
As you can see from the above notice, there will a £5000.00 fine coming into place from the 1st of October 2022.
